Silver Grey first appeared in 1985 [1] and is one of the Three Greys. Silver Grey is the more common of the Three Greys and is often seen in Pet Stores, there are 2 Forms of Silver Grey; Het. Silver Grey and Homo. Silver Grey. Both differ slightly.
- Heterozygous Silver Grey is a Silver Grey that has a Buttery-Sepia type hue of the Coat. This is usually caused by carrying other genes such as Cream.
- Homozygous Silver Grey is Silver Grey with 2 Copies of the Silver Grey gene and has a crisp clear grey coat.
- Dark Grey have dark black eye rings.
- Silver Grey is lighter Silver.
Breeding Notes for Silver Grey
Silver Grey has for years been purported to be "highly dominant" and if introduced to a line, almost impossible to get rid of. This however does not make sense. Unless a Hamstery is breeding Silver Grey x Silver Grey the litter averages should be the same as any other Dominant x Recessive or Dominant x Dominant pairing.
