Piebald is a gene that appeared around 1945 in America. It looked very similar to the Dominant Spot gene however 2 differences separated them. Piebald was recessive and Dominant Spot was dominant. The second difference was with the belly. The belly of a Dominant Spot is almost always solid white. The belly of a Piebald almost always had colouration.
Piebald became extinct when the Dominant Spot gene showed up in the 1960s, this is because Dominant Spot was much easier to breed. Piebald also had issues with health and temperament whereas Dominant Spot did not.
