Mosaic, commonly confused with Chimerism and has a second name of "Somatic Mutation" is an interesting and confusing subject. Mosaic creates a small black dot or in some rarer cases a big black patch or multiple patches. Mosaic cannot be predicted or even bred for. It is a random genetic mutation.
Mosaic is most commonly seen on Cream Hamsters, just like in dogs it is most commonly seen on Yellow dogs. Both Cream Hamsters and Yellow dogs are "ee". There are 2 trains of thought, 1. That Mosaic is linked in some way to the E Locus or 2. It's just easier to see the black spots on lighter colours. Train of thought 1 seems to be incorrect, as seen below on Julianna Rock's Extreme Dilute Black, any colour can have Mosaic patches pop up.
