Golden is the original colour of the Syrian Hamster. A once common colour it is now becoming more and more difficult to find a pure line of Goldens which means a Golden coloured Syrian Hamster carrying no other colours.
Golden used to be split into 3 categories in the UK. Light Golden, Normal Golden and Dark Golden. [1] This has now been rectified and there is only one standard for the Golden Variation now which is the Dark Golden. [2][3]
